Alex Doucette has been working with Monaghan Golf in the Golf Shop at Fraserview for a few years but it was just last fall that he decided to take his playability test and become a member of the PGA of Canada.

Alex has been a golfer since a young age, but only started his career in the golf industry in 2009. His drive and passion for the game helped him achieve acceptance into the PGA of Canada in 2012 after only 4 years of competitive playing.

Alex studied Human Kinetics at UBC and Langara College and uses this knowledge along with his extensive knowledge of golf equipment and technology to help students reach their goals. Alex believes that everyone is capable of playing great golf with their own unique swing, and would love to help you discover it.

The Golf Institute at Fraserview is happy to welcome Derek Thornley to our Golf Institute team as our Director of Instruction. Derek started on April 1st and will bring a new look and feel to our lesson programs. Derek is a PGA of Canada Class ‘A’ Head Golf Professional and Level 5 certified instructor with more than 25 years of experience as an instructor, player and manager. His engaging teaching style inspires golfers of all skill levels to learn, improve and excel in pursuit of their personal goals.

Derek has studied under veteran professionals Alvin Thompson, Stan Leonard, and Stan Utley. He has been an assistant coach at the RCGA Western Canada Player Development Camp and has coached members of the RCGA National Junior Team and the National Women’s Team. Derek is currently serving as the technical swing coach for the UBC Men’s Golf Team.
